Anthony King was born in Marion, Indiana in 1947. Though he was interested in painting at an early age, he never persued it in his early years. Painting was not a practical way to make a living. In spite of that, growing up on a farm outside of Marion, Indiana, he developed an appreciation for the landscapes around him. Anthony did not start AK Art until early 1977, when he visited a local art show in Marion. Thinking at the time this may be somthing he would like to pursue.

Since then Anthony's AK Art's landscape oil paintings have brought him numerous awards and recognition in competitions. Not only in the Marion area but also throughout the state of Indiana. As a member of the prestigious Hoosier Salon, Anthony's artwork and especially his landscape oil paintings have been bought by patrons of the arts across Indiana. Anthony still maintains a local club membership which is where it all started. Most of Anthony's AK Art landscape oil paintings depict the simple, elegent, beautiful, rolling hills of Indiana.

This area was introduced to him by a long time friend, also from Marion  who's lifetime ambition was to move to the hills of Crawford County Indiana and become a "hillbilly". Anthony prefers oil paints as his medium of choice. Oil paints being a more forgiving medium. He can, as he puts it " play with it more". The paintings from AK Art, Anthony produces are very reprsentational with wonderful detail. His painting are bright and crisp with broad contrast between lights and darks. Anthony espceially likes to get the feel for the fall season. Which happens to be why most of his painting depict this time of year. AK Art landscapes are the pride of Marion Indiana.
